FEDERAL GOV’T ENACTS GUN CONTROL THRU BACK DOOR USING EPA
December 28, 2013 – Investors.com released a report on December 26 stating that the last lead smelter in the U.S. is closing as of December 31 because of government regulations. Doe Run Co. in Herculaneum, MO has operated the smelter since 1892 and the closing will mean the end of jobs for 145 employees and 73 contractors.
New regulations enacted by the Environmental Protection Agency in 2008 were ten times a restrictive as previous regulations. The company had attempted to bring the plant up to the current standards but realized the cost would be prohibitive. Doe Run Co. reached an agreement with the State of Missouri and the EPA to close the facility.
New “greener” ammunition is being developed and the pentagon is has made a shift toward the procurement of this ammo. However, for American dealers wanting to use lead ammo, the lead will have to be imported. The UN Arms Trade Treaty is yet to be ratified by congress, but will give the Obama administration a back door to restrict imports of ammunition components.
